Learn From Experience
Coach Rob’s journey has included 35 years of coaching and 11 years of refereeing. Both boys teams and girls teams. In every setting: community clubs, travel teams, elementary, middle school, and high school. Coaching social players there for their friends and the joy of the game, or elite players with dreams of playing university basketball.
Private Training
Ask a Triple Threat parent what sets Coach Rob apart and they rarely start with the drills. They talk about how he is with their child — the patience, the encouragement, the way they leave practice wanting to come back. You can learn about Coach Rob’s approach on the Mission page, and see families describe it in their own words on the Testimonials page.
Some players want to work on one specific skill. Others want a general assessment of their game. Either way, sessions are built around your child’s skill and experience level, whether they’re picking up a ball for the first time or chasing a spot on a provincial team.
Free Phone Consultation
It starts with a free 10-minute phone call to discuss a session plan. If it’s a good fit, sessions are scheduled when they suit you, typically on a weeknight.
Booking a Gym
Coach Rob can arrange gym time, roughly $30 an hour on weeknights, added to the coaching cost. If parents can provide cheaper or free gym time, we’ll use that instead.
Friends and Teammates Welcome
Coaching fees are $70 an hour (GST included), so it makes sense to share. Five players sharing a weeknight session would pay about $20 each, gym cost included.
Parents Stay and Watch
A parent or guardian is present at every session with players under 18. It’s a Triple Threat standard, and it means you get to see the work.

Coach Mentorship
Victoria basketball has given Coach Rob 35 years of great experiences. The volunteers who run those teams — parents who said yes, teachers coaching after a full workday, coaches in their first season figuring it out as they go — are the reason basketball thrives in Victoria. Mentorship lets Coach Rob pay it forward. Coaching a team is one of the hardest things to learn on the fly, and a second set of experienced eyes helps.
Choose Your Format
- Watch and debrief. Coach Rob observes a practice, then sits down with you afterward.
- Practice plan and co-coach. He builds a practice plan with you and then helps run the practice.
- Season planning. Together we build a set of practice plans that fit your team, your gym time, and your goals.
- Anything you need. Player development, a tough parent conversation, game strategy, practice design. You lead the discussion and Coach Rob will support.
Triple Threat was built to work alongside Victoria’s clubs and schools, not compete with them. When Coach Rob is in your gym, he’s there for one reason: to help you and your players get better.
Coaching Fees
$70 an hour (GST included). Mentorship runs during your existing practice time, so there’s no gym cost. If you want time outside your practices, the gym is yours to arrange, or Coach Rob can arrange it at cost.
First 2 Hours Free for Girls Teams
Coach Rob coached boys for the first 25 years of his career and girls for the last 10. Supporting girls basketball is at the heart of the academy, so he offers the first two hours of mentorship free to any girls team in the city: a one-hour consultation and one hour in your practice.
Subject to Availability
Coach Rob has capacity to work with at most two teams a week.
